Joint Roof Investigation, Engineering Support & Warranty Maintenance

Role of Restoration Commercial Roofing Services

While Terracon conducted its testing and analysis, Restoration Commercial Roofing Services’ Service Department and in-house engineering team were present on the roof at Enterprise Chick-Fil-A to:

  • Perform a thorough commercial roof inspection
  • Provide engineering-level evaluation and documentation through our in-house civil engineer
  • Coordinate safe access and sequencing during roof core sampling
  • Mechanically heat-weld T-joint patches back into the existing Duro-Last single-ply membrane
  • Restore membrane integrity so the roof system remained compliant with manufacturer warranty requirements after samples were removed

This approach ensures that investigative testing does not compromise roof performance, watertight integrity, or long-term warranty coverage.

What Terracon Consulting Is Evaluating

Asbestos Investigation

Terracon extracts small roof core samples to determine whether existing roofing materials—such as felts, mastics, insulation, or adhesives—contain asbestos. Many older commercial roof systems (commonly pre-1990s) may include asbestos-containing materials that are not visually identifiable.

Moisture Analysis

The same core samples are evaluated to detect trapped moisture within the roof assembly, including saturated insulation or deteriorated deck components. This is especially important in drive-through areas, where leaks can disrupt operations and damage interior finishes.

Why This Integrated Process Is Important

Health & Legal Compliance

If asbestos is identified, federal and state regulations require specific handling, abatement procedures, and licensed contractors. Early identification prevents unsafe exposure, OSHA violations, and costly project shutdowns.

Accurate Scope, Engineering & Pricing

Moisture findings—combined with input from Restoration Commercial Roofing Services’ in-house civil engineer—allow for accurate determination of whether insulation or deck replacement is required versus localized repairs or overlays. This results in precise scopes of work and reduced change orders.

Operational Risk Management

Chick-fil-A drive-throughs are mission-critical, high-traffic areas. Understanding roof conditions in advance minimizes downtime, protects interior operations, and supports efficient scheduling.

Engineering & Warranty Integrity

Roof manufacturers and engineers require documented substrate conditions before approving new roof systems or warranties. By pairing third-party testing with on-staff engineering oversight and certified membrane repairs, Restoration Commercial Roofing Services protects long-term roof performance and liability exposure.

Wind Damage Asphalt Shingle Repairs Camilla Apartment Complex Enterprise, Alabama

At Restoration Commercial Roofing Services, safety and precision come first. We take pride in our safety program and it truly shows when our service technician set foot on commercial and industrial projects. We began this project with a drone inspection to pinpoint wind damage on the roof. We also looked for displaced or damaged exterior wall finishes. Working closely with the building owner, we coordinated an 80-foot man lift so our service technicians could safely access the roof to work in the affected areas. Our team completed targeted asphalt shingle repairs along the hip and ridge of this GAF roof system—restoring protection and extending the roof’s lifespan.
